Steve SayersSixth Form Link Governor
Steve Sayers
Steve joined the Local Governing Board at Ashton Park in September 2019 as a parent governor. Beyond the obvious connection of his son attending the school, Steve has a professional interest in education. This developed from 2001 to 2010 through his work at Futurelab, an educational research organisation that explored the use of technology for learning. Since 2011, as the CEO of Windmill Hill City Farm, he has focused on the connection between education, social justice and personal wellbeing, and is keen to improve the access rate of students in South Bristol to higher education.
Steve says "I would like to see Ashton Sixth as the first and best choice for school leavers across South Bristol offering a full range of curriculum choices, with results that stand alongside the best, and retaining the heart and care that it currently offers its students. I see my role as link governor as my contribution to achieving that aim."

Amy Sims
Amy Sims
Amy Sims is one of our sixth form tutors and she has worked at Ashton Park as a teacher and Head of Faculty for 13 years. An experienced Business teacher, Amy leads Business Studies as well as Health and Social Care.
Amy says, "Ashton Park Sixth form is a small sixth form were we focus on every student as an individual. We provide excellent support to students both academically and pastorally and we have had excellent results in Business and Health and Social Care.
After successfully completing A Level Business Studies many of our students have gone onto study business related courses at university, such as finance or marketing related degrees or have pursued higher level apprenticeships in accountancy or business management.
Likewise there have been many HSC students who have gone on to study courses such as nursing and midwifery or completed higher level apprenticeships within the NHS".

Carrie Weisselberg
Carrie Weisselberg
Carrie is an experienced member of our team having joined Ashton Park School more than 20 years ago. She started at Ashton Park as an English teacher before moving over to teach Health and Social Care, which she loves teaching. Carrie is one of our associate sixth form tutors but also provides one-to-one mentoring support when needed. She lives in north Bristol with her family but has also spent a few years in the Netherlands.
Carrie says "I love working at Ashton Sixth because it is a community where we all look out for each other and where we form strong and supportive relationships with our students. The smaller class sizes have resulted in HSC students achieving some excellent exam results, enabling them to progress onto vocational university courses, for example nursing, midwifery, social work and counselling, as well as Higher Level Apprenticeships in the NHS." -
