Attendance

Covid-19

If you have symptoms of or test positive for Covid-19 please follow the NHS guidance HERE.

If you will be absent from the sixth form, please notify us immediately by emailing absence@ashtonsixth.co.uk

Attendance

Our expectation

Regular attendance is extremely important as it forms a major part of any reference whether for employment or university.

Punctual and full attendance is expected for all tutor times, assemblies, lessons, enrichment periods, pastoral days, mentoring sessions, work experience and private study periods – as shown on your timetable or as separately communicated to you.

Teachers and tutors take a lesson by lesson register and careful records are kept.

Absences that are not acceptable include the following:

  • Holidays
  • Part-time work not connected with study
  • Leisure activities
  • Driving lessons
  • Events such as birthdays, weddings or music festivals
  • Babysitting younger siblings
  • Medical and dental appointments that are routine and could be made outside lessons

Reporting Absence

Permission for absence may be granted in advance, on a limited basis, if a ‘Request for Leave of Absence’ form is completed and signed correctly. A form can be collected from the sixth form office.

It is the student’s responsibility to catch up with any work missed during any absences.

For unplanned absences e.g. due to illness, please email your tutor; your subject teachers and the sixth form office: absence@ashtonsixth.co.uk. The office can also be reached by phone: 0117 3772742. We may ask you to provide written evidence of your absence.

For unplanned absence other than sickness, you will also be required to provide your tutor with a note from your parent / carer explaining your absence when you return.
